AuroraLive Desktop

Getting started: install, pair hardware, back up, and secure your wallet

Fast, safe access to your crypto with AuroraLive

Follow this clear, practical getting started guide to install AuroraLive Desktop, pair a hardware device (optional), create and back up your recovery seed, and apply essential security measures.

1. Download & verify

Get AuroraLive Desktop from the official domain (use the canonical URL). Choose the package for Windows, macOS, or Linux. For security, verify the checksum or signature when provided — this prevents tampered downloads.

Tip: use a fresh, updated device when installing wallet software and avoid public networks while downloading.

2. Install, initialize & pair

Install the app

Run the installer and launch AuroraLive. The app walks you through creating a new wallet or restoring an existing one. Choose "Create new wallet" if starting fresh.

Create a recovery seed

AuroraLive will generate a recovery seed (a sequence of words). Write it down on the supplied seed card or use a durable backup. This seed recovers your funds if a device is lost or fails.

Pair a hardware device (optional)

If you use a hardware wallet for cold signing, follow pairing prompts in AuroraLive. Confirm pairing on the device itself. Hardware-backed signing keeps private keys offline for the strongest protection.

Set a strong app password & PIN

Choose a durable password for the desktop app and set a PIN on hardware devices. Never store your recovery seed or PIN in the same place.

3. Back up your recovery seed

The recovery seed is the ultimate backup. Write it by hand on offline paper or use a metal backup. Store copies in separate secure locations (e.g., home safe, safety deposit box).

Do
  • Write seed on offline media
  • Keep at least two geographically separated copies
  • Test recovery with a spare device and small amount
Don't
  • Take photos or store seeds in cloud drives
  • Share seed with anyone claiming to be support
  • Use weak or reused passwords

4. Security best practices

Use strong, unique passwords and a reputable password manager. Enable two-factor authentication for accounts that support it. Keep your OS and wallet app up to date. Use full disk encryption and a secure antivirus solution for the host machine.

Always verify transaction details on your hardware device display to prevent address-rewrite malware and phishing.

5. Troubleshooting common issues

If the hardware device is not detected, try a different USB cable or port and confirm device firmware is up to date. Clear app caches, try an incognito/private window for web interactions, or reinstall the desktop app if necessary. For persistent problems, use verified support channels — never disclose your recovery seed or private keys.

6. Advanced workflows

Advanced users can leverage multi-signature setups, PSBT (Partially Signed Bitcoin Transactions) workflows for air-gapped signing, and enterprise-friendly custody configurations. For large holdings, consider institutional custody or multi-sig arrangements to distribute risk.
